E’ uscito in tutte le librerie, digitali e non, “1991. Il Risveglio del Rock – Brit Pop, Trip Hop, Crossover, Grunge e altra musica eccitante” (Arcana), scritto da Paolo Bardelli.
Il 1991 è stato infatti un anno eccezionale per il rock. Come in presenza di una congiunzione astrale, molti artisti pubblicavano album che sarebbero divenuti seminali mentre altri iniziavano il loro percorso per porre le basi di quello che passerà alla storia come un intero decennio, gli anni Novanta, musicalmente guidato dalle chitarre elettriche e in generale da una spiccata sensibilità rock. Mentre il metal era al suo punto più alto di diffusione, la parola chiave diventava “contaminazione”: funky e house meticciavano il rock sia in Inghilterra che negli Stati Uniti, e nascevano e si consolidavano veri e propri movimenti che avrebbero lasciato il segno, tra cui il trip hop a Bristol e il grunge a Seattle, oltre a infiniti rivoli di altri generi in fieri: shoegaze, noise, post rock, elettronica, hip hop e altri ancora.
Ma soprattutto accadeva un fatto straordinario: anche a seguito della crisi economica delle etichette indipendenti, diverse band alternative firmavano contratti con le major e, per questa via, il mercato discografico che conta diventava terra di conquista di musica “altra”. Nel momento in cui molti “vecchi” del rock esaurivano la loro ispirazione e spinta innovativa, si affacciava una nuova generazione sconvolta e cambiata dalla Guerra del Golfo e quindi obbligata, per la prima volta, a fare i conti con la propria perdita dell’innocenza in un mondo post-ideologico.
Questo libro è la storia di quella rivoluzione in musica.
